Sponsorship Forest Biometry, Modelling and Information Sciences |
|
The Editor and the Editorial Board have several major aims in founding FBMIS as an open access web journal. 1. To provide a top-quality peer-reviewed archival academic publishing outlet which focuses on state-of-the-art methodology of Biometrics, Measurement Science, Inventory, Modelling and Information Sciences as applied to forests and trees, processes in forests and trees, populations associated with forests and tress, the forest environment, and the social and economic impact of forests on human communities. 2. In so doing, to provide direct and easy access through the FBMIS to methodological techniques and tools which are crucial in both research and management of the World's forest, both temperate and tropical. 3. A particular aim is to provide this facility to workers in Developing countries whose institutions do not have the funds required to (i) subscribe to the existing traditional forestry or biometric journals, or (ii) support their staff in attendances in IUFRO conferences where best-practice Proceedings become available. 4. In order to maximize technology transfer in the FBMIS disciplines a Forest Model Archive (FMA) is also being co-founded, sponsored by IUFRO 4.01, 4.11. The FBMIS journal is directly linked to the FMA and it is hoped that by this means access to computer software, code and data will further enhance the transfer of forest models between forestry researchers throughout the world. Sponsorship of the FBMIS and its aims is invited from National Forest Services, Trans-national Trade and Governmental Organizations, Donor Agencies, Chararible foundations, and other NGOs. Such sponsorship could consist of the appearance of the Organisation's Logo on the Sponsors page, and would would not necessarily involve any financial sponsorship of FBMIS. Sponsorship of the FBMIS and its aims is also invited from commercial forestry, timber and pulp companies world wide, provided they subscribe to IUFRO guidelines on sustainable forest management. An annual sponsor subscription would be required in such cases, and would allow such sponsors some "free" advertising each year. Please contact the Editor if your organization would wish to sponsor FBMIS. |
