Presented and poster papers are invited which report on new substantive models and results relating to complex forest ecosystems, or which present new or novel techniques of measurement, modelling or analysis of complex forest ecosystems. It is hoped that the meeting can bridge the gap between those models and modellers working primarily in terms of timber production, and ecological modellers hoping to develop models intrinsically including species diversity as a state variable.  More widely, papers are sought which relate to  one or more items in the following table:

Substantive Results

Theory, Methods and Techniques

1.  Whole ecosystem models: tropical, boreal,... 1. Population models
2.  Process-based models 2. Simulation models.
3.  State-Space, Spatial and  Distributional models. 3. Dynamics and Steady states.
4.  Ecosystem cycles: Carbon, Nitrogen, other... 4. Stability & Sustainability
5.  Forest fire, pollution, infestation ... 5. Model fusion and hybridization.
5.  Biodiversity, with a view to its conservation.

6. Definition and characterization of Complexity and Diversity.

7. Climate and global warming. 7. Inventory and Monitoring
8. Water resources; quantity, distribution and quality. 8. Socio-economic impacts
9.  Results from Land-use Survey & Monitoring  9.  Conservation strategies
10.  Experimental and Observational Studies 10.  Niche-assembly and Dispersal Assembly theory
11. Digital Forestry Applications 11. Digital Forestry Techniques

Suggestions of extra themes for entry into the above table are welcomed.  Theme and session chairs will be appointed in due course to administer the submission, review, editorial matters.

The Workshop will conclude with a number of Panel Sessions.
