Information and Decision Support Systems

Themes may be defined both within forestry and the environment, and also within the technology disciplines. Papers are sought which relate to  one or more items in each of the columns of the following table:

3. Forest fire, pollution, infestation and other damage and disturbance.

3. Use of XML, RDF, and Ontological Metadata descriptions to improve functionality.

4. Biodiversity, with a view to its conservation. 4.  Web Services, WS Federations and Grid technology.
5. Weather and climate effects. 5. Tools for data-integration and fusion.
6. Water resources; quantity, distribution and quality. 6.  Forecasting Tools
7.  Land-use Monitoring and Control 7.  Decision support tools.
8.  Archival Systems.  
   

While the listing of the separate areas of interest, and the separate technologies, might make the whole areas seem rather fragmentary, it is hoped and expected that the workshop will demonstrate the existence, and the need for the use of, common core methodologies and a holistic perspective.

The Workshop will conclude with a Panel Session.

Suggestions of new themes for entry into the above table are welcomed.
